Frequently asked questions

How many lessons do I have to pay in advanced?

For all of our 1-1 tuition, mentoring and coaching services, we request that your payment is made once the session has taken place.

We will only book a follow up sessions once all previous payments have all been settled.

For our Explore (group) sessions, we require payments to be made in two halves (for those doing one lesson per week) and four quarters (for those doing two lessons per week).

My child is very anxious, what happens if they cancel last minute?

At Reclaim Ed, we instil trauma-informed practices and encourage all students to listen to their emotions. If your child is not in the right headspace for a Maths lesson, we are happy to cancel the lesson with no required payment or cancellation fee.

We understand that a parent/carer's priority is the wellbeing of their child and at Reclaim Ed, we prioritise the wellbeing and mental health of our students. We understand the emotional tax of worrying about finances while you're also worrying about your child. We want our students to learn with us and feel confident enough to join the following lesson without any negative connotations.

How many sessions does my child need before their results improve?

Every child is different and so we would need to discuss this further during our consultation.

After 3-6 sessions, we find that our students begin to feel more at ease when facing Maths lessons in school, even demonstrating willingness to do more Maths lessons.

After 3 sessions, more students are willing show more participation in their school classes. After 6 sessions, our students have demonstrated better retention of what they've covered in the school day. Over the course of 3-4 months of weekly tuition, students will be in a place where they have covered enough of a syllabus to begin work on their exam technique.

At Reclaim Ed, our teaching style is not designed to show short exam improvement, our success measures are around the reduction of anxiety, willingness to participate in Maths, improved problem solving, fluency of Mathematical language/skills, increased verbalising of their needs/processing through a lesson.

How do I book a lesson?

Contact us via email or WhatsApp to discuss availability, book a free consultation and we can schedule it from there.

My child has had a bad experience with tutors before, why are you any different?

Finding the right tutor is important for ensuring your child benefitting from their sessions.

I can guarantee that I take a trauma-informed approach with every student, ensuring persistence, determination and communication in every lesson.

Students should feel empowered that they're tackling their challenges and navigating their problems by facing subjects they're struggling with. At Reclaim Ed, we pride ourselves on removing that added emotional baggage.

I can also guarantee that I won't ever be 'disappointed' in your child or 'expect better' and I won't feel 'let down' whether that's due to lateness, absence, incomplete homework or mistakes in their answers.

Teaching young people to give new people a chance and being free to make a decision after that is a highly valuable life lesson.

Can we have a trial lesson?

We offer free consultations in which we have a video call to meet you and your child if they want to be a part of that. The tutor can get information that they need and you can ask any questions that you have.

We also offer 30 minute lessons at half the rate if you think that your child would benefit from a trial lesson before confirming any ongoing tuition.
