Why do we believe so strongly in independence when it comes to education?
- Maya Xian
Part of the allure when moving to the UK is that healthcare and education are free. That's exactly how it's framed, so why would we ever doubt that there is a need to invest any more than what we are already getting?
The issue here, is that no one mentions the limitations; catchment areas, long waiting lists and what some will discover is a postcode lottery. I'm sure as a parent, you will have thought 'if only I could pay to get them seen' at 3am when a child is crying, the A&E waiting room filled and a growing frustration that back home, things would be different.
And that's the sweet spot! The place where you can access free services thanks to the taxes that we pay but then also having access to private organisations who can help when things need to move that little bit faster and we don't want to be dependent on the local authority for funding, on a grant that the local club applies to or on the red tape that comes from contacting private services.
At Reclaim Ed, your child doesn't need to be failing in order for them to be our top priority. They also don't need to be the set 1 student who is representing the school in drama, dance, music, debate club and STEM club and upholding the reputation of the school to be a valued customer. Here, we give every student the time and empathy that they deserve so that they can approach their education with curiosity and embed within themselves that there is always help available, but more importantly that when they needed help, their parents got it for them.
